Inside the Studio is a high-level mentorship program built for that exact space in your business, the point where you know you’re capable of more and you’re ready to get strategic about growth. This isn’t a course. It’s a guided, small-group experience led by an industry veteran who’s spent over two decades building a seven-figure, globally recognized luxury design firm.
I'm Laura Stein, and I know exactly what it feels like to have big goals and no clear path. My business started 20 years ago in a spare bedroom at my parents' house. I had just left a career in marketing and was starting over. I knew a lot about design, but not much about our industry, and even less about how to run a business.

I didn't have a mentor, and despite the cliché, I literally learned everything the hard way. Each time I hit a plateau I had to figure out for myself how to climb out of it. I hired coaches, but never felt like I fit into their boxes. I wanted my business to be about my creativity, my values and my life, not someone else's metrics. But after the stress, self-doubt, imposter syndrom and everything else that comes when you try to build something in isolation,  I figured it out.  And I built the business I dreamed of.

Now, I’m here to help you build the business you dream of, without the trial and error chaos, but with direction, strategy, confidence and support. And with a commitment to honouring your creative vision.

The group dynamic provides perspective, energy and accountability, but we never lose sight of your individual needs and goals. You'll also get four private, one-on-one sessions to provide targeted, flexible support at key points throughout the program, starting in the second week. And just in case you miss something, you'll get lifetime access to the recorded sessions.

PROGRAM OUTLINE

INSIDE THE STUDIO  is a 15 week program that focuses on elevating the four core elements of your business that have a direct impact on growth — creative development, brand identity, client experience, and design process — and how they work together to create a referral-worthy, highly profitable business grounded in design excellence.

PHASE 1: DEFINE YOUR DESIGN IDENTITY

Build the foundation for a focused and emotionally resonant brand.
We will lay a creative and strategic foundation by identifying your signature design voice, clarifying your aesthetic and business values, aligning them with business goals, and building a brand narrative that resonates with your ideal client.

WEEKS 1-4:
  • Identify creative strengths, gaps, and areas of opportunity.
  • Clarify current and future business and lifestyle goals.
  • Deep dive into your “what and why” to refine your signature design point of view.
  • Align your aesthetic vision and design point-of-view with your ideal client and goals to create a clear and powerful brand that positions you for growth.
  • Articulate your brand and messaging for emotional resonance, connection and clarity.

PHASE 2: DESIGN PROCESS & CREATIVE MASTERY

Together, we’ll explore how to strengthen your design process from inquiry to install, improve the way you communicate your ideas, and refine the tools and visuals that represent your work. You'll gain new confidence in your creative leadership, sharpen the way you present concepts, and align your internal process with the elevated brand experience you're building.

  • Evaluate and refine your design process from inquiry to install.
  • Elevate your design presentations.
  • Mentorship on design development and technical aspects:
      •  Drawing reviews
      •  Materials and finishes assessments
      •  Identifying opportunities to push boundaries and level-up
  • Create standout design moments within your workflow.

PHASE 3: BRAND AS AN EXPERIENCE

Create a client experience that feels as elevated and distinct as your design work.
This phase helps you translate your design identity into every client-facing interaction—from the first email to the final goodbye—through thoughtful brand alignment, storytelling, and service design. We'll audit the full client journey through the lens of brand experience, identifying gaps and opportunities, refine how your brand shows up across every client-facing touch-point, and build an elevated client experience that inspires trust, emotional resonance, and long-term loyalty.

  • Develop confidence in design leadership, client communication, and guiding clients through decision-making.
  • Brand audit through the lens of client perception.
  • Mapping the entire client journey. 
  • Designing a client experience that builds excitement, trust and repeat business.
  • Craft a high-touch, consistent experience aligned with your creative identity.
  • Refining your brand’s verbal and visual presentation across platforms and touch-points.
  • Referral and relationship strategy.

PHASE 4: GROWTH THROUGH REPUTATION & REFERRALS

AMPIFY YOUR VISIBILITY, BUILD MOMENTUM AND REACH.
Phase 4 is about building momentum. With your design identity, process, and client experience dialed in, this phase focuses on amplifying your visibility and reach through smart, reputation-based growth. We’ll craft your referral strategy, strengthen your project storytelling, and identify opportunities to showcase your work. You’ll also map out your creative and business direction for the months ahead, so you leave the program inspired and prepared to lead your next chapter with vision and purpose.

WEEKS 12-15:
  • Capturing and showcasing your work for PR, social content, and credibility.
  • Building a personal brand.
  • Final review of portfolio, drawing set or current work-in-progress with personalized feedback and mentorship.
  • Managing sustainable growth with intention and ease.
  • Creative direction, long-term visioning and goal-setting.
  • Strategic and creative next steps.

FAQ'S

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF MY APPLICATION HAS BEEN ACCEPTED?
Once your application is submitted it will be reviewed and you'll hear back within two business days. If your application is accepted and there is space in the program you'll be invited to register. If your application is accepted but the program is full, you'll be placed on the waiting list for the next start date.
WHAT IS THE FORMAT AND HOW OFTEN WILL WE MEET?
We will meet on a video call for 60 minutes each week. There will be 15 sessions over the course of five months, with a few weeks off at certain points in the program to accommodate public holidays and allow for focused independant work. The 2026 winter session will be on Tuesdays at 1:00 PM EST or 3:00 PM EST, starting on February 17 and ending on June 9, 2026. You can express your preference for either the 1PM or 3PM group when you submit your application. We will do our best to schedule you in the time slot of your choice, but it will be on a first come, first serve basis.  Once you register we will schedule our four private 1:1 sessions, which may be at a different times or on a different day.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MENTORSHIP AND BUSINESS COACHING?
Business coaching tends to focus on metrics, systems, and performance: things like financial goals, contracts, and scaling tactics. Although there are many industry-specific business coaches who understand interior design, in my experience they often have a one-size fits all approach. I struggled with business coaches because I was expected to conform to their systems and processes, many of which felt inauthentic and out of line with my values.

Mentorship is about guidance, perspective, and wisdom. It’s about growing you as a designer and business owner — with support that’s nuanced, honest, and grounded in the realities of our industry AND your business. While we may discuss many things a business coach would cover, mentorship is personal and creative, while still being strategic and goal-driven. It's about elevating both your craft and your bottom line.
CAN I EXTEND MY MENTORSHIP BEYOND THE GROUP PROGRAM?
Yes! After the group program is completed you can continue your mentorship on a month-to-month basis, as long as there is space in the schedule. The cost is $2000/month for four sessions or $1100/month for two sessions. If you'd like even more flexibility, sessions can be purchased individually at any time for $550 per session.
WHAT IF I NEED EXTRA HELP BETWEEN OUR SCHEDULED SESSIONS?
You'll be part of a Slack group where you can ask me or your peers questions in between sessions. If something comes up that requires more time and focus you can book additional interim private mentoring sessions for $550 per session.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO MISS A WEEK? ARE THERE MAKE-UP SESSIONS?
Due to the format of the program there are no make-up sessions. If you need to miss a week, don't worry! All the sessions are recorded and you'll have lifetime access to the recordings so you can catch up on your own time.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU NEED TO MISS A SESSION?
It's true... I'm human, and sometimes I do get sick or have a family emergency. If I do need to cancel a session we'll extend the program for an extra week so you don't miss any of the amazing material.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
I want to make sure this is the right fit and you feel confident with your investment. You get to try out the progam for two weeks, and if it's not right for you, just let us know and you can cancel with a full refund. No questions asked. After that, you're in! Because we depend on the participation of everyone in the group and acceptance is limited, please make sure you are committed and ready to participate if you apply.
